i met the most amazing people with so many different beliefs.
even so i shared and spoke about god freely and without being judged.

This was a great discovery for me as well. I have had more genuine kindness showed to me by non-JW's than I ever did by JW's. Also non-JWs don't expect everyone to agree. It's refreshing! -

Plan your escape, get your own place.
You don't have to defend anything to anyone. And just because someone asks you a question doesn't mean you have to answer it.

Getting ready to visit the San Diego area......Any suggestions?
by drewcoul inmy son is getting ready to move to hawaii.
we are driving from indianapolis to san diego next week so that they can ship his car from the west coast and save about a thousand dollars versus shipping it from here.

Coronado. Balboa park was fun, the beach with the boardwalks and the carnival rides.
One night we ate at a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse near the water, outside on the terrace, and that night there were fireworks..... So nice.

Did you hear Stewart use the bible to prove an incredibly good point to Jackson!!
by umbertoecho ini thought at the end, stewart made brilliant use of scripture (about establishing fornication or other sexually immoral practises) how, in such a clever way stewart used scripture to point out that some one could basically stake out someone's house to see if a person stayed over night be they homosexual or heterosexual............that on the basis of a sort of stakeout, the two witness rule was ambivalent yet it prevailed.
due to sufficient suspicion.. and therefore why did this "suspicion" not prevail with child sexual abuse.

It still does happen, it happened to a relative of mine about a year ago. I told them to call the police and file stalking charges. The sheriff did come out and chase the father- son elder team away. -

Know of any ex-mormons I could talk to?
by Brighid init's a business related matter and i'm just looking for some insight on doing business (very remotely) with mormons.
looking for some inside tips on what a devout mormon would find acceptable and/or not in business.
or if it even matters to them when it comes to business.

The Australian Royal Commission will NOT do a damn thing to the WT!
by Calebs Airplane inthe rothschild family will not allow the aussies to take any significant action against their religious wing (mormons, jws, adventists, etc.).
the worst outcome for the borg will be a relatively small fine and a deadline to change their rules.
that is all..

Even if nothing else comes of it, the public record and public exposure of their actions is invaluable. The fact that they were caught in so many of their lies will lay the groundwork for future cases.
Things like this tend to take some time to play out. While we might not see the immediate results we all hope for, I don't believe this exercise was futile.

Just wrote my DA letter....
by dubstepped inmy wife and i planned on fading but the elders now want a shepherding call and we are just done.
i know that many play the game to try to stay in, but i'm not a game player and neither is my wife.
our families already shun us because we reached out to a disfellowshipped family member.

In response to your question about family relationships, it can work to some extent. I have zero contact with my siblings. But my parents and I talk to at least weekly, and we meet up in vacation spots a couple times a year. Never at home where someone might see me. It was rough in the beginning, but I made it clear I don't want to hear anything about the religion. And they have respected that, but I reversed shunned them for more than a year while I got my new life in order. I didn't want anyone influencing me while I was trying to figure things out. It is nice to have a small relationship with them as they get older. -

Is It Time to regroup?
by John Aquila inhow much do you want to bet that the organization has already started preparing articles for the watchtower magazines, convention talks, circuit overseers talks and letters to bodies of elders, to refute what is happening in australia?
.
right now the most important thing for the wt to do is protect their image that they are gods visible organization.especially in the u.s. and latin american countries.

I think we can all play a part in spreading this news. I have brought it to the attention of two U.S. Senators from my state that I got the opportunity to speak with this week. I have also forwarded the story to local and national news organizations that aren't running the story to try to garner attention. I have a college friend who works for the AG's office in my state - I am going to send it to her too. It can't hurt. I am making sure I am respectful and calm so that I will be taken seriously and not as some nutcase. -

A few facts to ponder
by Nitty-Gritty ini have been in correspondence recently with silentambs and a few interesting things have been highlighted.
some of you may know, that bill bowen has twice tried to get the fbi involved in investigating child molestation issues in the jws org.
this is what he said to me, i quote: we have reported to the fbi on two occasions and were rebuffed due to them not wishing to get involved with a religion.

I hope at the end of this people are no longer treated as insensitively. But given the lies being told by the Elders, I doubt anything will change until such change is forced by an outside agency. The thousands of lives that have been affected by the abuse should have been enough to facilitate change within the org, but no such consideration was given.
